Dec 21, 2023
French fashion house Zadig & Voltaire opened this month its first boutique in Mexico City, as part of its global expansion strategy.
Located within the prestigious Artz Mall, the 2,300-square-foot boutique embraces the brand's latest store concept, seamlessly blending Parisian sophistication with Mexican craftsmanship.
The concept was designed by the internal team at Zadig & Voltaire. A store highlight includes tables and rails created with locally sourced stone and metals, fabricated by local artisans for the boutique.
“We collaborated with local artisans to imbue our signature Zadig & Voltaire design with an authentic Mexican take,” explained Ryan Gendron, vice president of store design and creative. “We additionally drew inspiration from the vibrant color palette associated with the renowned Mexican architect, Luis Barragán, to enhance the visual appeal of our statement fitting rooms.”
Founded in 1997 by Thierry Gillier, Zadig & Voltaire has consistently challenged traditional luxury norms, embracing a passion for freedom and creativity. Artistic director Cecilia Bönström infuses the brand with a distinctive blend of sophistication and nonchalance, creating contemporary yet timeless silhouettes.
Zadig & Voltaire has already established a strong presence in Mexico through its wholesale business at El Palacio department store, known as a top shopping destination in the heart of Mexico City. The brand has also witnessed robust customer sales from the residents of Mexico and southern America, notably in its Florida and California boutiques.
As part of its global expansion, Zadig & Voltaire plans to open eight more stores within the next three to four years. Two boutiques are already in the pipeline, and are slated to open at the end of 2024 and early 2025. It currently operates over 350 locations worldwide.
