Under Armour, Inc. announced on Friday two new leadership appointments, welcoming Yassine Saidi as the new chief product officer and Kara Trent as president of the Americas.
Saidi, a seasoned industry veteran with nearly two decades of brand experience, is set to join Under Armour on January 29. Saidi's career includes stints at industry giants Adidas and Puma, where he is credited for helping to shape the sneaker market and developing authentic performance gear.
In his role as chief product officer, Saidi will oversee winning product strategies, focusing on apparel, footwear, and accessories. His responsibilities extend to managing the overall global product vision and strategy for the company.
"Under Armour has a long and rich heritage as an innovator in sports, driven to fuel athletic performance. I see the massive opportunity to harness UA's constant innovation and authenticity on-field with athletes to grow and evolve the business off-field. I am incredibly excited to join Under Armour at such a pivotal moment in its history," said Saidi.
Meanwhile, Trent, currently the managing director of the company's EMEA region, will step into the role of president of the Americas in February. Trent, who has been with Under Armour since 2015, has played a crucial role in driving double-digit revenue growth in the EMEA region.
Her leadership has strengthened the brand's premium presence through disciplined product segmentation, focused marketplace management, and robust marketing strategies. Trent will replace David Baxter, who will leave the company on February 16.
"In the past year, we have added incredible executive talent to Under Armour, and I am confident that Yassine and Kara's demonstrated track records of leadership and expertise will further strengthen our ability to build an even more powerful brand," added Stephanie Linnartz, Under Armour president and CEO, who both new hires will report to.
"We will continue to advance our growth strategies, driving greater demand for the brand through groundbreaking innovation and design.”
The company's leadership team has seen significant additions in the past year, with other senior appointments, including Jim Dausch as chief customer officer, Shawn Curran as chief supply chain officer, John Varvatos as head of design, and Amanda Miller as chief communications officer. The search for a chief marketing officer and senior vice president for footwear is currently underway.
