Sergio Rossi and Artistic Director Evangelie Smyrniotaki part company
Evangelie Smyrniotaki has stepped down artistic director of Sergio Rossi. The Italian luxury footwear label has announced Smyrniotaki’s departure in a press release, stating they have parted ways by mutual consent at the scheduled expiry of the designer’s contract.
Smyrniotaki took charge of the artistic direction at Sergio Rossi in January 2022. Over the last two years, she oversaw the label’s global brand strategy and redefined its identity, notably by masterminding advertising campaigns and content creation. She also spearheaded the label’s design studio, and dropped two successful Evangelie Smyrniotaki x Sergio Rossi capsule collections.
“It has been a privilege for Sergio Rossi to collaborate with such a talented artistic director. Evangelie has managed to fashion the label’s brand image, staying true to its DNA and creating a new aesthetic. Sergio Rossi would like to express its gratitude to Evangelie for her professionalism and dedication. She will always be part of the Sergio Rossi family,” the label stated in the press release.
In November 2023, Helen Wright was appointed CEO of Sergio Rossi, replacing Paul Kotrba. Australia-born Wright, who has worked for Ralph Lauren, LVMH-owned Fendi, and Karl Lagerfeld, will focus on growing Sergio Rossi’s business in key markets like North America, the UAE, Japan and China.
Sergio Rossi is owned by the Chinese Lanvin Group (formerly Fosun) and operates over 60 monobrand stores between the EMEA region, Japan and China. In H1 2023, the label reported a revenue of €33 million.
