Jan 8, 2024
Olympia Le-Tan has collaborated with paramount Pictures to celebrate “the iconic 90s aesthetic among others”. It means the London-born designer’s Paris-based business has created a collection featuring two exclusive bags inspired by the film Mean Girls, two bags paying homage to cult classic Clueless, and a piece capturing the essence of Saturday Night Fever.
The overall collection “not only celebrates the cultural impact of Mean Girls and Clueless, but also taps into the revival of 90s fashion trends, bringing back the era's unique style with a contemporary twist,” we’re told.
Meanwhile, the Saturday Night Fever clutch is a “testament to the enduring influence of 70s pop culture on fashion and design”.
Prices for the bags — which launch this week — range from €1,380 to €2,120. They’ll be available on the brand’s website, as well as via Shopbop, Capitol, Bergdorf Goodman, Selfridges, Neiman Marcus, Net-à-Porter, Moda Operandi, Zalando, Fontainebleau, Budoar, Jawahir, Five Story New-York and Twenty Two Concept Store.
Olympia Le-Tan’s luxury clutch bags are known for their trompe l’oeil effects. Most look like books and feature a variety of designs rendered in intricate embroidery.
The company said the Mean Girls bags “showcase the sassy and bold spirit of the Plastics, incorporating iconic quotes from the film". Meanwhile, the Clueless bags "exude the fashionable charm of Cher Horowitz and her Beverly Hills entourage, featuring patterns and details reminiscent of the film's iconic fashion moments". The Saturday Night Fever bag "pays homage to the disco era, offering a touch of glamour and nostalgia for fans of the classic film”.
It’s good timing with the new Mean Girls film being released this month and the company and the movie giant are also promising “more exciting developments”.
