Max Mara next cruise show to set sail in Venice
Jan 10, 2024
Max Mara’s next cruise show will be staged in Venice, the latest port city which the Italian luxury fashion house has chosen for a major runway show.
"Max Mara is pleased to announce that the Max Mara Resort 2025 collection will be shown in Venezia, Italy on Tuesday, June 11, 2024,” the house said in a release Tuesday.
The choice of the Serene Republic of Venice comes after shows in Stockholm and Lisbonne, both of which won plaudits for their modernist takes on resort wear. In Stockholm, designer Ian Griffiths presented a collection inspired by Scandinavian culture, and the region’s special place in the empowerment of women.
A collection whose icon was Selma Lagerlöf, the first woman to win a Nobel Prize, and an author noted for her folkloric literature. A show staged inside the building which annually hosts the Nobel Prize Awards.
While in Porto, Griffiths played on erotic feminism in clothes motivated by a Natália Correia, the famed Portuguese free-thinker, arty grand dame and café society star. Presented with flourish in Lisbon’s Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, and one of the world greatest private art collections, built by an Armenian immigrant, who a century ago was the richest man in the world.
So expect a novel and historically significant locale for the next show by Max Mara. A brand that has helped expand its cultural impact and global footprint by staging hyper refined shows in unexpected locations from a Berlin museum of ancient history, to the coolest new coastal hotel in Italy, the Mezzatorre in Ischia.
