Bullying, Animal Cruelty, Homelessness, Cancer…DoSomething.org

Bullying,  animal cruelty, homelessness, cancer – the list goes on. DoSomething.org spearheads national campaigns so 13- to 25-year-olds can make an impact – without ever needing money, an adult, or a car.

The not-for-profit organization is well known among young people who want social change. It has many campaigns to join in a social cause as well as project ideas for almost every issue. You can even suggest a cause. Their programs and products are free and empower young people to use their passion, time and creativity.

For the past 4 years, the organization has partnered with VH1 to create a celebrity-studded award platform for young people and social change. Each year five nominees are rewarded with community grants, media coverage and support from the team at DoSomething.org. One grand prize winner receives $100,000 to take their work to the next level.

Dosomething.org is a good resource to build an idea if you want to address an issue that is common or join a cause. They also offer scholarships as an additional incentive based on specific campaigns. Teens for Jeans, which collects jeans for homeless youth in your community, and Mind on my Money and Money on my Mind, which educates about personal finance, are two great campaigns that are currently taking place.
