Change the World: Start a Petition on Change.org

If you have not heard of Change.org, then you are missing out one of the most effective ways of activism available today. Change.org allows young social entrepreneurs to create a petition about something they would like to change to gather a mass of people behind the cause. The number of people supporting the public message  shows the urgency of the cause.

The platform enables policies to be changed, rules to be re-evaluated, people to gain rights, and much more.  It uses the power of storytelling and raising awareness to empower people globally. You only need to be 13 to start a petition or support a cause.

Recently, there was an inspiring TED talk about how a thirteen year old, McKenna Pope, used Change.org to petition the toy company, Hasbro to change the marketing of the Easy-Bake Oven to make it more gender neutral so that her four year old brother would feel like cooking is not only for girls.

She shares a powerful message to young social entrepreneurs that “haters gonna hate” and to not let that stop us from making the change we want to make.

Do you know of something that is not working? Do you know someone who has been taken advantage of?

Starting a petition on Change.org is a great way for young social entrepreneur to build an idea that can make real change.
